Dosimetric comparison of irradiated small bowel volume with intensity modulated radiotherapy and volumetric modulated arc therapy in adjuvant pelvic radiation therapy for endometrial carcinoma

چکیده
Newer treatment techniques help in reducing dose to small bowel (SB) which is an organ at risk (OAR) for pelvic radiotherapy (RT). However, instead of SB, bag contoured routinely and constraints are given. In this retrospective case series, we compared the received by SB while using intensity modulated radiation therapy (IMRT) volumetric-modulated arc (VMAT) patients receiving adjuvant RT endometrial carcinoma. 10 with stage II EC who VMAT were included single institution study. was retrospectively planning computed tomography scan these patients. An IMRT plan also generated a similar target volume coverage previously approved plan. Volume Gy, 20 30 40 Gy 45 analysed dosimetric comparison made among two plans. Anaylysis variance (ANOVA) unpaired t tests used comparison. Mean (V10 Gy) 85.3% 83.7% respectively. (V45 4.1% 5% No statistically significant difference noted low or high irradiated both techniques; however, getting absence optimisation found be groups can translate acute late toxicity. Further prospective studies have conducted know clinical significance dose-volume relationship SB.

Intensity modulated radiation therapy versus volumetric intensity modulated arc therapy
The advanced developments in external beam radiation therapy (EBRT) over the past few decades have improved dose conformity to the target while minimizing dose to the surrounding organs at risk (OAR). Intensity modulated radiation therapy (IMRT) and volumetric modulated arc therapy (VMAT) are two commonly used EBRT techniques to treat cancer. In sliding window (SW) or dynamic IMRT, each radiati...

متن کاملVolumetric intensity-modulated arc therapy vs conventional intensity-modulated radiation therapy in nasopharyngeal carcinoma: a dosimetric study
Dosimetric comparisons between RapidArc (RA) and conventional Intensity-Modulated Radiation Therapy (IMRT) techniques for nasopharyngeal carcinoma (NPC) were performed to address differences in dose coverage of the target, sparing of organs-at-risk (OARs), delivery of monitor units (MUs) and time, to assess whether the RA technique was more beneficial for treatment of NPC. Eight NPC patients (S...
متن کاملThe evaluation of lung doses for radiation pneumonia risk in stereotactic body radiotherapy: A comparison of intensity modulated radiotherapy, intensity modulated arc therapy, cyberknife and helical tomotherapy
Background: Radiation Pneumonia (RP) is one of the most extensive side effects in Stereotactic Body Radiotherapy (SBRT) of lung cancer. SBRT are performed by means of Intensity Modulated Radiotherapy (IMRT), Intensity Modulated Arc Therapy (IMAT), CyberKnife (CK) or Helical Tomotherapy (HT) treatment methods. In this study, we performed a plan study to determine the plan parameter such as the M...
متن کاملVolumetric intensity-modulated Arc (RapidArc) therapy for primary hepatocellular carcinoma: comparison with intensity-modulated radiotherapy and 3-D conformal radiotherapy
BACKGROUND To compare the RapidArc plan for primary hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) with 3-D conformal radiotherapy (3DCRT) and intensity-modulated radiotherapy (IMRT) plans using dosimetric analysis. METHODS Nine patients with unresectable HCC were enrolled in this study. Dosimetric values for RapidArc, IMRT, and 3DCRT were calculated for total doses of 45~50.4 Gy using 1.8 Gy/day. The parame...
